With the sad news that Desperate Housewives is ending, Eva Longoria has started to panic about what will happen to her character Gabrielle Solis.
Hoping that the writers of the show won’t bump her off, Eva told Extra: “I don’t have an opinion. For eight years I’ve never given a note to the writers because I trust them completely. They know Gabrielle better than I do.
“(I have) no dream scenario, I don’t even know how the whole world can end. It’s just so lively and vivid and it’s been part of me for so long, eight years is a long time for any show. Every script I’m opening it going, ‘Am I dead? Am I dead yet? Am I gonna die. I’m not yet!’ I hope I don’t die. That’s a wish!”
Despite being open with what she wants to happen with her character, the star wasn’t giving away any plot secrets fir the last ever series.

Susan, Gaby, Bree, Lynette and Carlos must dispose of the body of Gaby’s evil stepfather, who was killed by Carlos in order to protect his wife. But feelings of guilt begin to overcome everyone in different ways. Susan starts to withdraw from her friends and family, and Gaby works to reach out to Carlos while his guilt weighs heavily upon him. As Lynette and Tom are grappling with their disintegrating marriage and impending separation, Lynette is having trouble making the right choices ever since she participated in the cover-up. And Bree must be especially careful around her new love — Detective Chuck Vance. Meanwhile, a sexy, new neighbor moves to town, Ben Faulkner, and he’s Renee’s first order of business.

It’s a sad day for the smart and sassy suburban women on Wisteria Lane and the worldwide audience of approximately 120 million who watch them. We’ve just learned that ABC will announce on Sunday at the Television Critics Association’s press tour that this 2011-2012 season will be the last for long-running Desperate Housewives. Key castmembers are starting to be told, and we hear that Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria are shocked and saddened since the ABC Studios series created by Marc Cherry was expected to continue until 2013 after the longtime showrunner had said that he wanted the show to go for 9 seasons. ABC also contracted with the show’s four stars for the next season after lengthy salary negotiations with the quartet this past season. In addition to signing them for this coming season, ABC also got options on them for Season 9. But when this season’s premiere episode is broadcast on Sunday, September 25th, it will be the first for the series without Cherry at the helm. He stepped down at the end of last season as executive producer/showrunner and is expected to be a consultant on Season 8 while focusing on development of other series. Cherry also was slapped by former castmate Nicolette Sheridan with an embarrassing lawsuit over a purported slap which is still winding its way through the Los Angeles courts. Her claims of battery, wrongful termination, and unlawful retaliation will be argued in front of a jury. Since the provocative and profitable dramedy’s premiere on October 3, 2004, the show has been a hit with viewers and critics alike: a solid Nielsen performer as well as a multiple Emmy and Screen Actors Guild award winner. The series premiere drew 21.6 million viewers and the show’s first season finale attracted over 30 million viewers. Since 2006 and continuing into 2010, it was the most-watched comedy series internationally, with an average viewership of 51.6 million viewers across 68 territories. Moreover, it was the third-highest revenue earning show for 2010, with $2.74 million per half hour.

Eva Longoria Parker landed a role on ‘Desperate Housewives’ because she is “selfish.”
The actress – who has played Gabrielle Solis on the comedy drama for seven seasons – explained she arrived for her audition with creator Marc Cherry without reading the entire script.
She said: “Marc Cherry asked me, ‘What did you think of the script?’ So I said, ‘You know, I didn’t read the script, I just read my parts and I think she’s fantastic.’ And he said he knew I was Gaby at that moment because that was the most selfish thing to say. That I only read my part. He goes, “Yep, there’s our Gaby.”
The actress – who shot to fame on US soap opera ‘The Young and The Restless’ – also revealed her mother was disappointed when she first got the role because couldn’t understand why she would ever want to leave daytime TV.
She recalled to Tatler magazine: “You would have thought I was working with Al Pacino. They thought it was the best thing ever. I remember when I got ‘Desperate Housewives’, my mum was like, ‘But it’s not on during the day?’ She was really upset about it. But I said. ‘I think this is better Mum.’ “
